Something That Bothers Me

Something that really bothers me is this talk from certain atheists who sink to levels of trashy and frightening discourse. Having been to many message boards, Facebook pages, comments under news articles concerning religion, the one thing another atheist can suggest that absolutely disgusts me is along these lines:

“Religion should be eradicated immediately and made illegal!”

And/Or

“Theists should be killed, die, be imprisoned, shot! etc…”

You know who you are. This type of online behavior amongst the non-religious and atheists is not only rude and scary, it reminds me exactly of fundamentalists. For every comment like this, there is someone who becomes forever certain that all atheists are evil, immoral psychopaths.

And that makes me want to punch you in your teeth until you cry or need dentures (whichever comes first). Sure you have freedom of speech. But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a fist in your big, stupid, flapping jaws. You sully my name. I take it personally and others should too. You are not builders, you are destroyers and many of us do not like you one bit.

You ignorant and egotistical douche. Those suggestions make me wonder how heartless or unthinking someone can be to say something like that. Do you not have religious family? Do you wish bad things upon your mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, grandparents, cousins? Because I can absolutely guarantee that the majority of families of atheists, friends and acquaintances are these people you so crassly and haphazardly suggest should be put to death, imprisoned, shot, executed, eradicated, etc.

Sure, you may be thinking “Oh shut up, you bleeding-heart hag. It was only an off-the-cuff remark. I don’t really mean it.” But you know what? I hardly find the idea of trampling on people’s rights very funny at all. That is serious business. After all, this attitude is what we fight against every day (in case you didn’t realize that)

So next time you imply or suggest that religious people should be persecuted or murdered, replace that with:

“My mother”

“My father”

“My younger brother”

“My great-grandmother”.

Perhaps you can see why that might, just might, piss off the more level headed population of atheists.

And in case you didn’t understand what I’m trying to tell you: *MIDDLE FINGER*
